Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 26, 2026
This privacy policy outlines how Internet Speed Meter Pro ("we", "our", "us") handles data. We are fully committed to protecting your privacy. Our app is designed to process and store all operational data strictly locally on your device.
🛡️ Play Store Data Safety Declaration
No data is collected or shared with third parties. All database records, connection logs, and speed measurements remain isolated in your device's internal storage sandbox, secured by the Android operating system.
1. Information We Access and Process
To provide real-time connection insights, the app accesses the following system information locally:
- Network Traffic Statistics: We query Android's native
TrafficStatsAPI andNetworkStatsManagerto calculate your current download and upload speeds. This processing occurs dynamically and locally every second. - Data Usage Counts: We aggregate total data transmitted over Wi-Fi and Mobile connections to help you track billing limits and data consumption.
- Application Names and UIDs: In the Pro version, to display the data breakdown per app, the application dynamically resolves the network stats UIDs of active apps to their package names and app labels locally using system-provided UID package resolution. This mapping is kept strictly on-device.
- Carrier and Network Operator Name: We read the name of your active mobile carrier (e.g. Jio, Airtel, T-Mobile) from system telephony configurations to display it in the statistics panel.
2. Android System Permissions Required
To run reliably in the background and update the status bar, our app requests the following system permissions:
- Foreground Service (
FOREGROUND_SERVICE&FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE): Required to keep the monitoring loop alive when the app is minimized, allowing the status bar speed icon to update continuously. - Post Notifications (
POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Required on Android 13+ to display the real-time speed in your status bar and system notification drawer. - Package Usage Stats (
PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): Required *only* in the Pro version to query the local network usage of individual apps for the app breakdown dashboard. This permission requires explicit system settings activation by the user. - Receive Boot Completed (
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): Allows the background speed monitoring service to restart automatically when you reboot your phone.
🔒 Offline Enforcement Guarantee
Strict Local Usage: Neither your resolved network usage metrics nor your network carrier names are collected, stored, or transmitted off your device. The app operates 100% offline, and all operations occur directly on your local system.
3. Data Storage & Local Retention
All historical daily bandwidth logs are saved in an internal SQLite database (speed_meter.db). This file resides in the private app sandbox and is inaccessible to other apps or third parties.
- Retention Limit: We automatically clean up logs older than 30 days.
- Manual Deletion: You can completely purge all historical tracking data at any time by going to the App Settings > Clear History.
4. Policy Compliance & Contact
We comply fully with Google Play Developer Policies (including Foreground Service and sensitive packages access rules). If you have any questions or feedback regarding this policy or data safety, you can reach us at:
